Miti Maninoa is a family-owned resort that celebrates who we are and where we come from. We wear our culture with pride and share our stories with every guest — because everyone is part of the conversation.
We are spiritually connected to the Moana (ocean) through our love of Va‘a (canoe paddling) and our commitment to bridging our community with a world beyond its horizons.
Our Story
In Samoan, Miti means both skinny and dream. It was the nickname given to our mother, Sula Miti Ah Fook, who was slender in frame but carried big dreams in her heart.
She was a solo mother who started with nothing, yet became one of the first successful businesswomen in Samoa, leading M&J Ah Fook Enterprises Ltd for more than 35 years. She loved to host friends and family, making every gathering warm and welcoming — the same spirit we now extend to our guests.
Beyond business, she was a supporter of youth and ocean culture, believing in the power of community, paddling, and water safety. In her name, Miti Maninoa continues this legacy. Our Ocean Club programs now support over 40 youths from the District of Siumu through school initiatives and weekly water awareness training.
During your stay, you will see these young paddlers in action — often 30 to 40 children out on their canoes in the lagoon. Guests are always welcome to watch, learn, and even participate.
What began as a simple but powerful dream — to open our home to others — has grown into something bigger: a place where family, culture, and the ocean come together. Miti Maninoa is now managed by her Son and Grandchildern.
